A Modern Update to a Timeless Boardroom

Like many iconic boardrooms, this space was originally designed by leadership with in-person meetings in mind. If you weren’t in the room, you weren’t part of the conversation—or the decisions being made.

For nearly 20 years, a modest display with basic laptop connectivity and minimal speaker coverage met those needs. But as meeting flexibility has become a priority for nearly all of our clients, it was time for a refresh. Taurus was honored to lead the inspiration, design, and delivery of this upgrade for one of our longest-standing clients—inside one of our favorite boardroom spaces.

While the original construction and millwork remain unchanged since the early 2000s, the technology inside has taken a major leap forward.

We replaced the aging Panasonic 103” display with a stunning 163” Absen KL COB 1.2mm videowall on a custom Draper wall mount. Audio performance was also upgraded with two larger Extron SoundField ceiling speakers and two Extron ColumnArray 163 speakers, delivering crystal-clear sound throughout the room.

A discreetly installed Shure MXA920 microphone now provides incredible pickup across the entire space, while our team engineered a custom winch system for easy access via the adjacent drop-tile ceiling. An AVer Cam570 rounds out the system with premium video capture and automation.

To ensure full flexibility, we integrated a Crestron Flex MTR system paired with retractable BYOM connections using Extron UnderTable Cubbies. These provide clean, intuitive AV and power access for all users.

Finally, we enhanced the MTR panel with custom flip pages—offering control over lighting, shades, display doors, and standard functions like source switching, power, and volume. As a finishing touch, the room automatically powers down when not in use, preserving energy and maximizing system longevity.

Storage

  • All equipment is extended and remotely located in a Middle Atlantic 44RU AV rack within the Client’s IDF closet
